ILMENAU WAY ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS
The City awarded a contract for the construction of a new roadway to be named Ilmenau Way to Ford Development Corp. on November 10, 2011. This new roadway will connect Reed Hartman Highway and Osborne Boulevard, and service a 26-acre development owned by Duke Realty called Legacy Pointe. Utility work began in December to relocate overhead utilities underground. As part of this project, sidewalks will be constructed on the east side of Reed Hartman Highway from Creek Road to Osborne Boulevard.
2012 PAVING PROGRAM
The City will request bid proposals for the 2012 Paving Program early this year. Roads being considered for paving this year include Twinbrook Court, Zig Zag Road, Crosier Lane, Raven Lane, Edenton Lane, Fallsington Court and Interstate Circle.
The 2012 Sidewalk Program will continue the City’s efforts to provide connectivity between neighborhoods and businesses to frequent destinations around Blue Ash (Recreation Center, Municipal and Safety Center, Downtown, Golf Course, future Airport Park, etc). In 2012, sidewalks will be constructed on the west side of Reed Hartman Highway from Osborne Boulevard to Cornell Road. The City will request bid proposals for this program early this year.
TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPGRADES The City of Blue Ash has an ongoing program to upgrade the traffic signals throughout the City from incandescent lights to LED (light emitting diode) lights. The LED lights use significantly less electricity, last longer between failures, provide brighter signals and support battery back-up systems at major intersections. Additionally, “count-down” pedestrian signals are being installed at intersections with wide roadways (such as Reed Hartman Highway) to assist pedestrians and battery backup units are being installed at major intersections. In 2012, the signals at the intersection of Reed Hartman Highway and Cooper Road are being considered for improvements.
